Article Abstract:

Chavez's strategy is to encourage maximum confrontation and political mobilization whereas the Kremlin's strategy is to encourage maximum confusion and political demobilization, and democracy's doubles present themselves not as alternatives to democracy but as embodiments of real democracy.
