Shared embassies, secure buildings to deal with the threat of terror and direct international contact between government departments in the wake of incidents like, creation of the European Union (EU) and terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, have left the diplomats on the sidelines. However, certain episodes like, European agreement with Iran on nuclear technology, indicate that traditional diplomacy is still reliable, though it needs to adapt continuously to change.
