Edmund Burke and the English Revolution
Article Abstract:
Edmund Burke, the British politician and writer, metaphorically presented the instability in English history in his 'Reflections.' Citing the English Revolution of 1688 as an example, Burke suggested that the English history evolved slowly like a great oak, and deviated from one precedent to another, out of necessity. He compared the stable England to cows grazing under old oaks, and British agitators and pamphleteers to grasshoppers. England's parliamentary stability brought by Robert Walpole refutes Burke's ideas. Burke's concealing of his revolutionary political ancestors is noticeable.

Edmund Burke on manners
Article Abstract:
Edmund Burke was an 18th-century Irish-born English politician and author who was a known vociferous oppositionist of the French Revolution and its ideals. Burke considered the French Revolution a threat to civilization, and it is therefore perplexing that he would undertake a defense of this civilization from a terrible threat by writing on manners. Burke's dissertation and views on manners are evaluated.
