The politics of green energy
Article Abstract:
The policy network approach has a number of strengths and weaknesses when used to explain developments in renewable energy policy. The strengths of this approach include analyzing renewable energy decision making after privatization of the Electricity Supply Industry. The policy network approach does not offer the complete theory of how politics operates, but this cannot really be expected. However, this approach has shown how, in the area of renewable energy, environmentalists played a relatively insignificant role in government policy formation.

Citizens' juries and valuing the environment: a proposal
Article Abstract:
Environmental cost-benefit analyses are sometimes used when decisions are taken on issues that can affect the environment, though a market may not exist for a price to be developed. Another approach is that of citizens' juries, which can agree on a group decision on the value of environmental protection. This approach has the benefit of being democratic, and can be seen as a way of extending cost-benefit analysis. The citizens' jury approach may be especially appropriate for large, government-sponsored schemes.
