Integrated policy analysis and the global dimension
Article Abstract:
Britain took up the leadership to codify largest global research and data collection effort for the Climatic Convention. This was due to an established national research lobby that capitalized on the development of opportunities in the 1980s political climate. Britain dominated the proceedings at the International Panel on Climatic Change scientific advisory process and successfully integrated it into their domestic and foreign policies. The politicians used global warming as a mechanism for shifting attention and resources from national environmental issues to international ones.

Ecological modernisation, ecological modernities
Article Abstract:
Ecological modernisation has become a part of the ecological crisis itself, as modernity has globalized the scope, type, and range of human-created environmental risks. Most industrialized countries have introduced changes in the nature and content of their environmental policy. While the focus is on environmental and economic benefits of resource efficiency and waste minimization, the environmental issues have political connotations. National governments are vying for political control in addition to the economic advantages attached to good environmental performance.

Environmental policy in Poland
Article Abstract:
The desire to join the European Union motivated the Polish government to set high environmental standards. The abolishment of many industries and subsidies contributed to the improvement of environmental conditions in the country. Another influence was funding from foreign sources which enabled investments in anti-pollution equipment resulting in the improvement of water quality and atmospheric emissions. However, this clean-up approach in addressing environmental problems had little impact on the issue, both at local and national levels.
