Congress levies accusations on Gore-Chernomyrdin deal

The 1995 deal to limit Russian-Iran arms sales included a 1999 deadline for all such transfers of conventional arms to cease. Congressional Republicans accused Al Gore of secrecy in the negotiations, and say that Russia violated the 1999 deadline, in hearings on the eve of the 2000 presidential elections.
