Reform of anti-dumping regulations: the case of the EC
Article Abstract:
It is possible to reduce the protectionist tendencies of most nations' antidumping laws by reconceiving policy reform in a manner that uses a competition-policy criteria. Market share, new international notions of cost/price fixing and the true effects of short-term dumping could be used as factors in deciding if dumping is predatory in nature. The new method would allow for a better understanding of the effects of dumping than the current cost/benefit analysis, therefore giving regulatory bodies a better opportunity to represent national interest while not hindering international trade. The EC antidumping regulations are used as a reference for the discussion of possible changes.

An appraisal of the state aid rules of the European community: do they promote efficiency?
Article Abstract:
The European Commission has completed a study on the impact of state aid on economic efficiency. State aid is regulatory mechanism that allows a government to provide monetary assistance in case of market failure in the local economy. However, this form of economic intervention causes a paradoxical effect on welfare and may also cause negative crossborder spillovers. Control of state aid by the European Commission should be improved and aligned to efficiency considerations.

For a world competition authority
Article Abstract:
The relationship between competition policy and economic integration in international trade can be attributed to the former's role in aiding the integration and trade liberalization processes. Regional blocs play a role in developing appropriate and unbiased policy decisions. However, the expansion of regional blocs due to the admission of new members may affect the consistency of said decisions.
