The limits of limited reforms
Article Abstract:
The democratization of Morocco through electoral processes that complied with the intentions of the Moroccan monarch King Mohamed VI is discussed. His tailored reforms that limited the power of all political parties, even if victorious, hinder democratic development in Morocco, and have thus led to popular protests against the results.

Islamists, technocrats, and the palace
Article Abstract:
The elections in Morocco demonstrate the declining influence of Islamists, while highlighting the monarchy's intention to adapt itself to the process of a tailored democracy. It is suggested that the Islamists realize the need to coordinate with the monarchy and are thereby including technocrats in their political agenda.

Questions for the future
Article Abstract:
The societal and political implications of the 2007 Morocco elections are analyzed. The election results that saw an unsatisfactory performance from the Islamist party indicate more public participation in the democratization process in the future, with a limited role for religion and the monarchy.
