Ottawa Convention states-parties convene for second meeting
Article Abstract:
The meeting of 107 states and parties to the Ottawa Convention banning land mines met for the second time since the March 1, 1999 adoption of the Convention in Sept 2000 in Geneva. To date only 20 signatories are in compliance.

Article Abstract:
Of more nearly 5,400 weapons (including tanks, ACVs, heavy artillery, warships, missiles, aircraft and helicopters) exported in 1999 by 23 reporting nations, the US (1,839) sold more than a third.
