U.S. renews effort to bring China into Missile Control Regime
Article Abstract:
The US government is believed to be keen for China to establish effective export controls for missiles and missile technology. For this reason, it is trying to find out whether China is willing to join the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR), which aims to restrict the proliferation of ballistic missiles and their related technologies. China agreed in Oct 1994 to abide by MTCR guidelines and not sell Category 1 items, but there are doubts about whether it has fully complied with MTCR rules since then.
