Urgent circular on how to handle issues relating to overseas tourist groups that have recently entered the country
Article Abstract:
The State Bureau of Tourism issued an urgent circular on April 27, 2003, to all local bureaus of tourism on how to handle issues relating to overseas tourist groups that had lately entered China. International tourist agencies must be urged to advise foreign tourist groups to delay their visit, and the tourist groups already in the country could proceed according to their originally planned itineraries but avoiding certain regions, in order to prevent and control the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome through tourist activities.

Urgent circular on atypical pneumonia prevention and control at public venues and food-preparing and vending locations
Article Abstract:
An urgent circular dated April 22, 2003 issued by the General Office of the Ministry of Health, requires hygiene supervision departments to strengthen hygiene supervision and management at public venues and food-preparing and vending locations in order to prevent and control the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome. It stipulates ensuring good health of the staff, a strict disinfection routine, protection of sources of drinking water from contamination, proper handling of food, and hygienic garbage disposal.
