Worker ownership in the United States: an emergent response to cultural forces
Article Abstract:
Employee or worker ownership evolved throughout the history of the US as a response to cultural, legislative and economic conditions. In the colonial era, labor cooperatives was the form employee ownership took to protect the worker from the employer. In Industrial revolution, it took the form of cooperatives. In the early 20th century, it was instituted in stock ownership plans due to the prosperity everyone experienced. Worker ownership has varied forms which can change, given certain economic conditions. Today there are many forms of worker ownership in use.

The reluctant resurrection: new complexity methods and old systems theories
Article Abstract:
Nonlinear tools and concepts offer valuable insights into the evolution and behavior of humans as well as natural systems. An assumption is present stating that the results of nonlinear analysis can be integrated easily with existing social theories. But in reality they present a serious challenge. Thus serious theory building theory requires a revival of certain elements from earlier social theories as well the development of certain hybrid concepts such as 'systemic choice.'
