The treatment of an adult survivor of incest: a self psychological perspective
Article Abstract:
The treatment of an adult incest survivor described by M. Price from a Horneyan perspective has aspects that can be illuminated from the perspective of self psychology. The patient suffered the dual traumas of abuse by her father and abandonment by her mother. Her early needs for mirroring and idealization not having been met, she needed to repair her damaged sense of self. The therapist assisted in this process by providing mirroring which gave the patient genuine recognition and by showing her that she could have an idealizing relationship without violation of her will.

The numinous and spiritual dimension as a metaphsychological perspective
Article Abstract:
The Oedipus complex may be seen as having a complement, inextricably linked. The infantile neurosis of the infant exists, paradoxically, both separately and inextricably bound to that of each parent. Oedipus and Jesus both had a profound effect on human history and on psychological and spiritual lives. The Oedipus myth prefigured the story of Christ, a story of transformation and absolution. Both lives had a religious theme. In analysis, there is a miracle of transformation, the miraculous usually being ignored.
