A measurement of the adaptation of color vision to the spectral environment
Article Abstract:
An exploratory factor analysis of the reflectance spectral distributions of a sample of natural and man-made objects is presented. The analysis yields a factor pattern remarkably similar to psychophysical color-matching curves. Results are consistent with the hypothesis that patterns of covariance distribution of wavelengths of light reflected from an object constitute the information defining the color of that object. These analyses, however, does not provide a strong test for the hypothesis.

Effects of categorizations on color perception
Article Abstract:
Experiments shows that subjects' hue perceptions get deformed by the watched objects' shape categories. The results suggest that color perception influenced by a method of shape categorization that is automatic because it occurs whether or not it is necessary to complete the current task.Task counterbalancing and same-hue controls suggest that the watched objects' shape categories should be explored for explanations of perceptual deformities.

Electrocortical differentiation of evaluative and nonevaluative categorizations
Article Abstract:
Evaluative categorizations of food items evoke a late positive potential (LPP) which is larger in the right than in the left scalp regions. However, semantic categorizations, which are nonevaluative, produce only smaller LPP. The neural and cognitive processes may be different in evaluative and nonevaluative categorizations. The LPP evoked by evaluative categorizations shows an asymmetrical trend as compared to nonevaluative categorizations.
