A visually impaired savant artist: Interacting perceptual and memory representations
Article Abstract:
Paintings by a visually impaired and cognitively handicapped savant artist were evaluated. The pictures are painted solely from memory after viewing a natural scene through binoculars, or after studying landscape photographs. The artistic ability of the artist seems to be independent of his various handicaps, or it may be a consequence of their interacting effects on an inherent talent.

Annotation: the savant syndrome
Article Abstract:
Co-occurrence of low level of intelligence with high-level of skills supported by memory and information processing mechanisms in some autistic individuals, called as Savants is explored. Study of various experimental findings and theoretical accounts suggests that global measures of intelligence, derived from standardised IQ tests fail to provide insight into Savant Syndrome.

Autistic features in a total population of 7-9-year-old children assessed by the ASSQ (Autism Spectrum Screening Questionnaire)
Article Abstract:
The distribution of autistic features in a total population of children 7-9 years of age is assessed and the impact of age, gender, informant and participation bias on symptom report is explored. Non-responders had a higher load of autism symptoms than identified children, indicating that reports on the prevalence of autism in a responder group underestimate true prevalence.
