Verbal bias in recognition of facial emotions in children with Asperger syndrome
Article Abstract:
It has been established that, on a test of simple facial emotion recognition, children with Asperger syndrome (AS) do not show deficits in their percentage of correct responses or response time in relation to verbal IQ-matched controls. This research appears to support earlier work indicating that higher ability children with autism process simple facial expressions successfully as a function of their chronological and verbal mental age. There is a need for more research into the actual ability to adapt to real-life social demands shown by people with AS.

Autism and pervasive developmental disorders
Article Abstract:
Autism Spectrum Disorders are shown to be common by the epidemiological studies conducted, but there continues to be debate about the causes of the increase in the frequency with which autism is diagnosed. New developmental models are developed for the disorder and there have also been significant advances in the molecular genetics of autism and understanding of the underlying neurobiological processes.
