Body image dissatisfaction in homosexual and heterosexual males
Article Abstract:
The presence of homosexuality among male eating disorder patients has been found to be unusually high, leading to investigations into the relation between body image dissatisfaction and homosexuality. The rate of homosexuality among female eating disorder patients is reported to be about four percent, while the rate of homosexuality among male eating disorder patients is estimated to be about 26 percent. The present study used pictorial representations of male physiques to compare subjects' perceptions of their bodies and body ideals. Their attitudes toward weight and body dissatisfaction were also surveyed. Of the 75 men who participated in the study, 32 were heterosexual and 43 were homosexual. As groups, homosexual and heterosexual men selected the same current and ideal physiques, but homosexual men tended to prefer to be somewhat underweight and heterosexual men tended to prefer to be somewhat heavier than the ideal. This is interpreted as evidence that homosexual men, who show an overall preference to be somewhat underweight, may be at increased risk for eating disorders. Evolutions of an orientation concerning the nature of the male homosexualities
Article Abstract:
The case histories of three men are presented to backstop the change in a psychotherapist's view of the nature of male homosexualities. The highly personal account concedes that the causes of homosexuality may well be beyond analytic comprehension. These can be of genetic or constitutional origins. Thus, psychoanalytic treatment of such patients should focus more on the nature of the distress, rather than on the fact of homosexuality.

Missionary positions: a response to Edwin C. Wood
Article Abstract:
The proposed shift in attitude toward homosexuality is questioned, owing to the lengthy treatment of the pathologizing view of homosexuality. The struggle of gays is also not articulated, not for toleration or equal status, but for a new logic of the sexual order. Likewise, psychosis and homosexuality are divorced from one another, yet the two concepts were presented together at the outset.
