Neuroleptic-induced tardive dyskinesia
Article Abstract:
Extrapyramidal side effects followed by dyskinetic tongue movements were reported in an 18-year-old patient who had been treated with fluoxetine and risperidone. The patient, who was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder, exhibited no motor abnormalities during treatment with fluoxetine alone. However, a week after being placed on a combined regimen of risperidone and fluoxetine, the patient started to display involuntary, repetitive dyskinetic tongue movements.

Risperidone-induced tardive dyskinesia
Article Abstract:
Recurrent tardive dyskinesia was reported in a patient with moderate mental retardation of unknown etiology during treatment with risperidone. The 46-year-old patient, who also has mild systemic lupus erythematosus and rapid-cycling bipolar mood disorder, had been on a regimen of controlled-release lithium carbonate, carbamazepine, levothyroxine and vitamin E. One week after risperidone was added to the combined regimen, the patient developed severe dyskinesia.
