The selfless consciousness
Article Abstract:
Dennett and Kinsbourne's thesis on consciousness has evidence from cognitive science and can be substantiated by facts from experimental neuroanatomy, neuropsychology, neurophysiology and computational neuroscience. Various neural systems operate to generate the sense of self but there is no single brain locus wherein signals from all sensory modalities as we experience them converge and integrate. In this sense the Multiple Drafts model is an unexact and incomplete alternative to the Cartesian Theater model.

What is consciousness for, anyway?
Article Abstract:
Dennett and Kinsbourne's thesis on consciousness lacks conceptual background. Consciousness is a function of the neurological system thus, triggers for behavior are internal rather external. The brain monitors and changes plans continually according to external stimuli but this plan monitoring action is derived internally. Consciousness is not a monitor of mental processes but the result of mental operations we are not conscious of.
