Economic actors, minds and contexts: towards an ecological economic psychology?
Article Abstract:
The 1994 Exeter Workshop on 'Personal/Household Finance' was organized to promote the development of an ecological economic psychology. It was in response to calls for a paradigm shift in economic psychology so that research focus in turned towards the reciprocal causation between economic agents and the economy. Specifically, the workshop sought to generate discussions on such issues as the economic reality of people's mental models and the gender-oriented exercise of economic power, decision making, consumption and spending.

Being in two minds about a single currency: a UK perspective on the euro
Article Abstract:
Research has established the opposition by most UK citizens to Economic and Monetary Union. Public opinion was generally negative to the replacement of the British pound by the euro. These were supported by tests of a model that defined cultural and instrumental attachment as factors of national identity that influenced the anti-euro sentiment. Cultural attachment was characterized as nationalism, while instrumental attachment referred to social benefits of citizenship.

Financial organisation and decision-making within Western 'households.' (response to articles by Jan Pahl, p. 361, Sophia R. Wunderink, p. 377, Erich Kirchner, p. 393, in this issue)(Household and Individual Economic Psychology)
Article Abstract:
The separate works of Pahl (1995), Wunderink (1995) and Kirchler (1995) addressed various aspects of household financial organization and decision-making. It is argued that the focus of research should not be limited only to households, but should also be directed towards individual economic behavior within households. It is further proposed that such as the constraints associated with different roles within households and the impact of gender should also be addressed.
