Emotional disclosure in school children
Article Abstract:
Children can be adversely affected by stressful life events and stress is linked to changes in glucorticoid and immune responses. Pennebaker and colleagues found that writing about stressful events can be beneficial with regard to psychological and physical health outcomes. The emotional disclosure method for coping with stress was adapted for school children of different ages to determine its effect on psychological and behavioural indicators of stress. Children welcomed the opportunity to disclose details of stressful situations and responded positively to keeping a diary, although no specific positive effects of emotional disclosure were evident.

Behavioral adjustment in school of very low birthweight children
Article Abstract:
A study on the school-based behavioral adjustment in very low birthweight children was conducted to examine their morbidity rates. Results from a school-based behavioral adjustment at 7-8 years of a cohort of 243 prematurely born show low birthweight children and their normal birthweight control. Children born preterm were considered to have more behavior problems that reflect a failure in self regulatory function.

Bilingualism, school achievement, and mental wellbeing: A follow-up study of return migrant children
Article Abstract:
The way in which the use of more than one language affects mental wellbeing and school achievement in 320 school-aged Finnish-Swedish re-migrant children, was investigated. The same series of children were screened six years after migration, and out of five groups, two had fared well, with three exhibiting evident vulnerability. The two successful groups were marked by consistent use of Finnish and Swedish.
