Ethnicity and acculturation: Assessing Mexican American couples' relationships using the marital satisfaction inventory-revised
Article Abstract:
The marriages of 75 Mexican American and 66 non-Hispanic White American couples were compared, based on the Marital Satisfaction Inventory-Revised (MSI-R). Modestly higher rates of relationship distress amongst the Mexican-American couples were observed following multivariate analyses. Higher rates of acculturation amongst Mexican American couples were linked to higher levels of marital distress for wives, but not to relationship satisfaction for husbands.
