Evaluating direct and indirect measures for the functional assessment of binge eating
Article Abstract:
Research into the utility of functional assessment instruments designed to assess specific antecedents and consequences of binge eating has focused on a Function of Binge Eating Scale (FOBES) as a retrospective self-report instrument. It was established that participants responded similarly to direct and indirect measures of antecedents linked with binge eating behaviour as indicated by the strong link between all antecedent items on the FOBES and the monitoring forms. Future research should consider remote or distal antecedents and their effect on binge eating.

Dental erosion, oral hygiene, and nutrition in eating disorders
Article Abstract:
The association between dental erosion and oral hygiene practices on bulimic patients was determined through assessment of dental history, oral hygiene practices, measurement of tooth wear index (TWI) and nutritional intake in thirty-three vomiting bulimics. Results obtained have shown that there is no significant association between oral hygiene practices, TWI, and nutritional intake and dental erosions among bulimics.
