Report on the activities of the Mental Health Department of the Ministry of Health of Turkey since the Marmara earthquake of August 17, 1999, and the Bolu-Duzce earthquake of November 12, 1999
Article Abstract:
The activities of the Turkish Ministry of Health in organizing mental health services and planning training of health workers in primary care after the 1999 Marmara and Bolu-Duzce earthquakes in Turkey are reviewed. The inadequately prepared Ministry of Health undertook efforts in the face of a devastating earthquake that are an example of the self-sacrifice and altruism of health personnel.

Self-esteem and trait-anxiety levels of persons with physical disabilities who live in the earthquake region
Article Abstract:
The study determines the relationship between some of the sociodemographic characteristics of the handicapped that live in the earthquake region of Sakarya city center, and the self-esteem and levels of anxiety of the handicapped. Medical treatment is still not received by most of the disabled and only a minority is enrolled in special education and rehabilitation programs.
