Leaping behavior of Pithecia pithecia and Chiropotes satanas in Eastern Venezuela
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the leaping behavior in the white-faced saki, Pithecia pithecia, and the black-bearded saki, Chiropotes satanas for 15 and 10 months respectively as a part of larger study of positional behavior in the tribe Pitheciini. The leaping behavior correlates with the patterns of forest habitat preferences than to habitat differences as such Pithecia usually chose vertical or highly angled supports of lower tree portions for take-off and landing, and took off from a stationary posture.

Limb use and preferences in wild orang-utans during feeding and locomotor behavior
Article Abstract:
The analysis of lateralization of limb use, specifically limb use and preference during arboreal locomotion between trees and on feeding involving one limb and two limbs, in wild Bornean orang-utans (Pongo pygmaeus pygmaeus) to determine the hemispheric specialization, is presented. It is suggested that the orang-utans do demonstrate proofs of hemispheric specialization but not for all tasks, and the use of the hands is adaptable and not under strong lateralized hemispheric control.

Pithecia pithecia's behavioral response to decreasing fruit abundance
Article Abstract:
The behavioral responses of a group of white-faced sakis' (Pithecia pithecia) to fruit and water scarcity are described. In response to the scarcity of fruit, the sakis ate more young leaves, insects and flowers and mean distances between feeding bouts fell significantly and the sakis revisited tress less often.
