Memory in pediatric patients undergoing conscious sedation for aversive medical procedures
Article Abstract:
Research shows that pediatric cancer patients under the midazolam-induced conscious sedation exhibit anterograde amnesic reactions to a visual recognition memory task but no such reactions to a visual perceptual facilitation memory task. However, learning occurs under sedation as revealed by their unaffected implicit memory scores as opposed to deterioration of explicit memory scores.
