Meta-thoughts on the role of meta-emotion in children's development: comment on Gottman et al
Article Abstract:
J. M. Gottman, L. F. Katz and C. Hooven's meta-emotion study effectively aids the understanding of how parent-child relationships may affect children's development and adaptation. Their study also helps in the integration of research on the family context of normal development and psychopathology. Moreover, their constructs, methods, measures and findings have the potential to make vital contributions to psychology's understanding of family life and children's development.

Children's classroom behaviour: The unique contribution of family organization
Article Abstract:
A study aimed to determine if family organization is linked to teachers' perceptions of children's classroom behavior in first grade. Results suggested that adaptive family organization during a complex puzzle task made a significant contribution to the prediction of children's externalizing behaviour, although no link between adaptive family organization and teachers' perceptions of children's internalizing behavior was found.

Meta-emotion and socialization of emotion in the family - a topic whose time has come: comment on Gottman et al
Article Abstract:
The results of the study of J. M. Gottman, L. F. Katz and C. Hooven on the socialization of emotion should be considered as preliminary for several reasons. The sample of 53 is deemed as very small for structural modelling, where findings should be replicated. Moreover, differentiations should be made concerning the various aspects of parents' metacognitions and between parental meta-emotions and parenting behaviors.
