Mothers, fathers, stepfather, and siblings as providers of supervision, acceptance, and autonomy to young adolescents
Article Abstract:
A study of the attitudes of 124 young adolescents living with two biological parents and at least one sibling (TP) and 27 adolescents dwelling with mothers, stepfathers and at least one sibling (SF) revealed family members in family systems of TP adolescents as better organizers of their socialization processes. Both TP and SF adolescents had differing perceptions on the nature of the roles played by mothers, fathers or stepfathers and siblings in family functioning.
