Eating disorders in a national sample of hospitalized female and male veterans: detection rates and psychiatric comorbidity
Article Abstract:
Eating disorders are likely to be seen increasingly commonly in Veterans Affairs inpatient environments in the US as more women use Veterans Affairs health services. For this reason, it is important to investigate eating disorders and their psychiatric comorbidity in hospitalized female and male veterans. It has been established that eating disorders are much more common among female veterans than among male veterans and that age is linked inversely with eating disorder status, with eating disorder cases being younger than patients without an eating disorder.
