Perineal swelling, intramenstrual cycle, and female sexual behavior in Bonobos (Pan paniscus)
Article Abstract:
A study to compare perineal swelling cycle lengths with intermenstrual intervals to determine how closely anatomical fluctuations in bonobo females reflect underlying physiological changes is illustrated. Although in female bonobos the duration of the interswelling intervals is a fair depiction of the reproductive cycle, the prolonged sexual swelling in this species may also be a means of attractivity among females, elaborated to function in genito-genital rubbing which appears to be a powerful tool for social assessment.

Comparing maternal styles in bonobos (Pan paniscus) and chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes)
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to investigate whether a factor analysis to determine maternal style could be applied to bonobos (Pan paniscus) and chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes), and to assess whether the outcome follows the Cercopithecine pattern. Various interspecies differences in maternal style were noted and are discussed in the light of interspecies differences in infant development, infant vulnerability to aggression, inter-birth intervals, and female sociality.

Do chimpanzees build comfortable nests?
Article Abstract:
The role of comfort in nest building behavior in wild chimpanzees is investigated. More complex nests do result in a more comfortable central area in the nest but construction force and complexity do not influence comfort of the nest as a whole.
