Psychological stress tasks in the prediction of blood pressure level and need for antihypertensive medication: 9-12 years of follow-up
Article Abstract:
The results of a 9 to 12 year follow-up of 95 male participants with different blood pressure (BP) levels are presented in order to determine the role of stress tasks in the prediction of BP level and also determine the need for antihypertensive medication. The results indicate that the addition of stress-induced BP levels to casual diagnostic BP led to significant improvement in the prediction of higher future BP levels and the need for antihypertensive medication over a ten-year period.
