Rumination in adults: two case histories
Article Abstract:
Rumination is an eating disorder which involves re-chewing and re-swallowing of food and is found in mentally retarded children. Studies involving two case histories of rumination in adults have revealed that it is sometimes present among patients with eating disorders, such as bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa. Both patients had premorbid obesity and were secretive about ruminating until a full disorder of bulimia nervosa. Clinicians should address rumination symptoms when assessing adult eating disorders, as many cases are not recognized and remain untreated.

Total body potassium and serum potassium among eating disorder patients
Article Abstract:
A lower level of total body potassium is responsible for cardiac arrhythmias and other physiological abnormalities among patients suffering from eating disorder. The lower concentration of total body potassium also leads to a quick drop of serum potassium concentration. The body composition changes due to the weight loss in anorexia nervosa. Deficiencies of potassium and other elements among the eating disorder patients create problem in the determination of lean body mass.
