Self-reported and parent reported problems in adolescent international adoptees
Article Abstract:
Self-reported and parent-reported behavioral functioning in internationally adopted teenagers is examined. The study involves 1,538 adolescents between the ages of 14 and 18 who are not natives of the Netherland but were adopted by Dutch parents between 1972 and 1975. Self-reports and parent reports both show high levels of global maladjustment among the study participants. The self-reports indicate that, compared to the general population, 22% of the adopted boys and 18% of the adopted girls could be classified as deviants.

Prenatal smoking predicts non-responsiveness to an intervention targeting attention-deficit/hyperactivity symptoms in elementary schoolchildren
Article Abstract:
The intervention targeting the disruptive behavior to establish whether exposure to maternal smoking during pregnancy predicts intervention failure in elementary school children is explored. Results suggest that prenatally exposed children are most prone to follow a path of higher levels of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms and associated elevated risk for early-onset experimentation with smoking which is unreceptive to a universal preventive intervention.
