Social support during adolescent pregnancy: a comparison of three ethnic groups
Article Abstract:
The results of a study comparing the similarities and differences in social support among black, Hispanic, and white pregnant adolescents showed that social support was not significantly related to prenatal attachment. Black pregnant adolescents had less emotional and tangible support than white pregnant adolescents. The observed pattern of performance between ethnic groups for all NSSQ social support variables showed that whites had the highest score, and blacks the lowest with Hispanics in between. Though black adolescents had few family members to support them, the support they received was more than that available whites and Hispanics.

Analysis of 572 cases of adolescent pregnancy in Z.H. maternity hospital, Ankara, Turkey
Article Abstract:
The results of adolescent pregnancies are no worse than those of older women, according to a study of 572 pregnant teenagers in Ankara Zubeyde Hanim Maternity Hospital in Turkey. This refutes the view still expressed in obstetric textbooks, that adolescent pregnancy is a neonatal risk factor. The study, of girls aged 17 or under, showed that there were no great differences between the control group and the adolescents regarding outcomes including neonatal morbidity, birth weight, prolonged delivery, or operative and spontaneous delivery rates.
