Family rigidity, adolescent problem-solving deficits, and suicidal ideation: a mediational model
Article Abstract:
Models confirm the hypothesis that adolescent problem-solving deficiencies are a mediating factor in the relationship between family rigidity and suicidal ideation in the adolescent. Researchers obtained data from 297 college students and their parents using a range of scales including the Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale. The model which most closely fits the data obtained is one in which family rigidity affects adolescent problem-solving abilities which, in turn, affects thoughts of suicide.

Negative life evens and adolescent suicidal behavior: a critical analysis from the stress process perspective
Article Abstract:
Studies have linked adolescent suicidal behavior with stressful life events, but these studies have failed to account fully for the actions of moderating variables within the link. Researchers present a framework based on the stress process model which will aid understanding of the relationship between negative life events and suicidal behavior. The model incorporates factors including personal characteristics and social support systems.
