Article Abstract:
Research conducted on human personality development and interpersonal relationships is examined. The author applies dynamic systems theory and attachment theory to mother-child relationships, stating that though the relationship is constantly changing, the emotional attachment between mother and child is the determining factor regarding the child's development, and maintains the mother's sensitivity is the key variable.

A response to Alan Fogel's article on dynamic systems theory and attachment theory is provided. The authors maintain dynamic systems legitimately describes changing relationships and must be taken into account when researching child development.
