Targets and cues: Gaze-following in children with autism
Article Abstract:
Children with autism have problems in sharing attention with others. Joint attention behaviour, where the ability to follow another person's head in the direction of gaze can be achieved without sharing attention, but the absence of joint attention behaviour is a key feature of autism. A study was undertaken to look at the extent of the problem by testing school-aged autistic children. Many of the children did not have problems with following another's head turn, although there was a different between children with high and low verbal mental ages.

What do executive factors contribute to the failure on false belief tasks by children with autism?
Article Abstract:
Children with autism have pervasive executive difficulties and it is important to determine if they contribute to their often-reported failure on the false belief task. Two studies used two task making similar executive demands to the false belief task. Children with autism were found to be significantly challenged by a conflicting desire tasks, indicating that the problems with the false belief task is not based on difficulty grasping the representational nature of belief.
