Teenage mothers and the adult mental health of their sons: evidence from a Stockholm cohort
Article Abstract:
The Swedish cohorts in Project Metropolitan database show that males born to teenage mothers have lower levels of coping ability and higher levels of mental health disorders, than males born to older women. Study of coping ability and psychiatric impairment at the age of 19 yrs, and psychiatric hospitalization at the ages 20-30 show that this relationship depends on predisposing factors other than mother's age. Unmarried and low socio-economic status of the boys' mothers are two significant predisposing factors.

Assessing adolescent problems: an overview of the adolescent problems inventory
Article Abstract:
The Adolescent Problems Inventory and the Problem Inventory for Adolescent Girls are related to indices of behavior associated with antisocial and delinquent behavior. The two inventories measure social skills, social competence and social problem-solving. Factor analysis suggests that these variables have several dimensions of social functioning. The evaluation shows that both the inventories are potentially useful for clinical and research use.

The internal consistency of the Child Abuse Potential Inventory with adolescent mothers
Article Abstract:
The Child Abuse Potential Inventory (CAP) was completed by 105 adolescents with the aim of assessing its reliability with adolescent mothers. The results showed low alpha reliabilities for the CAP abuse scale and low to moderate for the six subscales. Further research is required to understand the psychometric use of the CAP with adolescent mothers.
