The disorder-salient Stroop effect as a measure of psychopathology in eating disorders
Article Abstract:
The relationship between the disorder-salient Stroop effect and the psychopathology of eating disorders was investigated. Thirty-two female subjects participated in the experiment that used four word types to determine the amount of Stroop interference in women with eating disorders. Results show that patients with anorexia nervosa displayed a slower response to color-name words relating to food and eating as well as weight and shape than patients with bulimia nervosa. Also, there was no reliable interference effect for a set of emotion words in patients with anorexia nervosa.

Low levels of interrater reliability in a standard measure of outcome in eating disorders (the modified Morgan-Russell Assessment Schedule)
Article Abstract:
The Morgan-Russell (Hayward) Assessment Schedule (MRHAS) is unsuitable for comparing the outcome of eating disorder patients across different treatment centers. A study conducted on 66 different female patients shows that there is a very low level of agreement between rater pairs assessing the patients. MRHAS has no proper protocol for use and uses an unstructured means of extracting information from patients. The effective use of MRHAS necessitates a special training program and interview format although it is intended to be used without any training.

Pictorial adaptation of Stroop measures of body-related concerns in eating disorders
Article Abstract:
A study reveals that persons suffering from DSM-III-R eating disorders took more time to color-name pictures of salient objects such as female figures of various shapes and sizes than pictures of objects that projected neutral stimuli. The study also proved the utility of a variation of the Stroop test to assess attitudes and cognition of subjects using pictorial, instead of verbal, stimuli.
