Comparing two measures of eating restraint in bulimic women treated with cognitive-behavioral therapy
Article Abstract:
Changes in dietary restraint patterns revealed by the Eating Disorders Examination Restraint subscale (EDE-R) and the Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire Cognitive Restraint scale (TFEQ-CR) in a large sample of women with bulimia nervosa (BN) who completed 18 weeks of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is examined. It is found that the EDE-R might primarily reflect dieting to lose weight whereas the TFEQ-CR might reflect dieting to avoid weight gain.

The effects of extending cognitive-behavioral therapy for binge eating disorder among initial treatment nonresponders
Article Abstract:
The effectivity of extending group cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in treating individuals with binge eating disorder (BED) who failed to stop binge eating after an initial 12-week CBT intervention is studied. Some 46 participants to the study either received a 12-week group CBT intervention or a waiting list control condition. After 12 weeks, some received 12 sessions of behavioral weight loss while the others received 12 additional sessions of CBT for binge eating. Results supported the extension of CBT to affect improvement in binge eating among initial nonresponders.
