The validity of the DSM-IV scheme for classifying bulimic eating disorders
Article Abstract:
Researchers found clinical evidence to support the classification of bulimic disorders according to the scheme laid down in the 4th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV). This scheme classifies bulimic disorders according to clinical severity. It divides bulimia nervosa into purging and non-purging types, and introduces the classification of binge-eating disorder. The researchers recruited and followed up a sample of 250 young women and found that the DMV-IV classification has both descriptive and predictive validity.

Self-recognition of disordered eating among women with bulimic-type eating disorders: A community-based study
Article Abstract:
A study examines self-recognition of eating-disordered behavior in a community-based sample of young adult women with bulimic-type eating disorders. Findings suggest that poor recognition of eating-disordered behavior may be conducive to low or inappropriate treatment seeking among individuals with bulimic eating disorders.
