Training in counseling ethnic minorities and race-based availability of graduate school resources
Article Abstract:
Psychology students reported that their graduate programs did not adequately prepare them for counseling ethnic minorities despite the American Psychological Assn.'s guidelines on psychology programs. However, they did report that authorities in ethnic counseling were available in training sessions, and that most of their instructors asked them to consider their ethnic biases during training. Most of the students also reported that funding was available for their graduate studies, and that they had access to role models and mentors.
