Utilization of empirically supported psychotherapy treatments for individuals with eating disroders: a survey of psychologists
Article Abstract:
A new study investigates the main methods used by psychotherapists in treating people with eating disorders and analyses the extent to which some empirically supported psychotherapy treatments, such as interpersonal psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, are used in clinical settings. It is shown that interpersonal psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy are not the main approaches used by psychologists, despite accumulated empirical support for the use of cognitive behavioral therapy.
