Dumbar's civilized anarchy
Article Abstract:
The freedom of production and creation that enter into Studio Dumbar's designs separate it from the mainstream of graphic art designers. The apparent lack of stylistic cohesion in the designs derives from the creative liberty studio-owner Gert Dumbar allows his designers, while the informality that characterizes them reflects his love of life. Dumbar's clients have included Royal Dutch PTT, Dutch National Railways, Aegon, the Dutch Police, and the Rijks Museum.

The digital backlash
Article Abstract:
There are a growing number of graphic designers who are wary of being seen to use the Macintosh computer too heavily in their design work. Many complain that the software has made the process easily accessible to beginning designers and bad ones, and the evidence of that is in the similarity of the work produced by them. Most agree that less facile design work is coming to dominate again now that the initial warm-up period with the computer has passed.
