Horst
Article Abstract:
Photographer Horst P. Horst began his artistic career as a student of architecture with Le Corbusier, but he soon began studying photography with George Hoyningen-Huene for whom he was both an assistant and a model. He learned a great deal from both teachers. Vogue magazine was his first client when he began working on his own, and during his career he has photographed many famous people, including aristocrats, artists and poets. He was widely known as a fashion photographer but was not limited to this alone. His photographs show fashion as a part of life. Horst's techniques are discussed.

The penguin man: Bruno Zehnder
Article Abstract:
Bruno Zehnder's love of the Antarctic is manifested in his photographs of penguins, seals and other scenes of the region. Zehnder first went to Antarctica in 1975, and his photographs of penguins eventually became internationally famous. As the region became threatened with exploitation of its natural resources, the photographer fought to save it through his photographs of the potential devastation. On Oct 4, 1991, representatives of 39 countries signed a treaty to protect Antarctica for the next 55 years in a Santa Cruz Palace room that was filled with Zehnder's photographs.
