Article Abstract:
The late artist Julian Allen considered himself an illustrator and a "reporter-artist" depicting unrecorded events of cultural and political history. Allen's illustrations were realistic and relied on keen social observation. His personal life was marred by alcoholism, and he died in 1998 at the age of 55 from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
