Struggle for space
Article Abstract:
Oxford city centre, Oxfordshire, England, is not an attractive location for office developers or occupiers due to lack of space and poor parking facilities. Development on the outskirts of town has proved to be popular, with some speculative construction work planned for Bicester and on the Oxford West site. The Arlington Oxford Business Park also has some speculative development in progress whilst large companies, such as Vodaphone, are further developing their buildings on the site. The rental value of new units on the site are about 17.50 pounds sterling per sq ft.

2001: a space oddity
Article Abstract:
Although many sites in the City of London, England, have been granted permission for new office construction projects only a small number of sites are actually being developed. Developers point out they are preparing to build but prefer to wait for prelet opportunities. There is some concern there may be an oversupply of space if speculative building goes ahead. But it is unlikely the oversupply problem in the early 1990s will be repeated. It is anticipated only 2 million sq ft of space will be ready in 200-2001 despite some 9.3 million sq ft having been granted planning permission.
