Rural property incomes hit as farm profits slump
Article Abstract:
The fall in income from rural property of 26% since 1997 is discussed. A survey of rural land use shows a dramatic decrease in farm profits of 109% offset by an increase in income from residential properties of 31%.

White Paper ignores farmers' pleas

Issues are presented concerning the disappointment felt by farmers over the proposals put forward in the government's Rural White Paper. The lack of incentives which would encourage diversification among farmers is discussed.
