A vision of the new workplace
Article Abstract:
The development of the physical working environment need not be a waste of capital investment. Office design should focus on providing better working conditions that will help foster employee creativity and generate new ideas which would contribute to the company's success. This will entail the formulation of a cost-effective yet efficient useof physical resources that would balance practicality with high culture. Designers and facilities managers should not limit themselves to standard programs and should address the means of making the working environment enhanceproductivity.

Safe and sound in the workplace
Article Abstract:
Health and safety regulations are particularly important to the warehouse industry, since over one third of accidents reported to UK local authorities and the Health & Safety Executive arise during manual handling operations. Employees are required to minimise the risk of injury during some operations, and give staff precise data over the balance and weight of loads. Firms now have a wide choice of equipment available to reduce the number of handling tasks which staff must perform manually. Employers must also carry out risk assessments in warehouses.

Russian workers and their changing workplace
Article Abstract:
Western businessmen who want to start business in Russia must adapt to the Russian working ethic where personal connections rather than informal negotiation is more important. In training Russian workers, a three two-hour training sessions can help them to establish closer relationship with the seminar instructor. Instructors should not employ concepts such as time management and teamwork because they will not appreciate them. Further, the training should be made relevant to their lives by giving examples related to the household.
