Accelerating towards a recovery
Article Abstract:
Yorkshire, England, has performed better in terms of economic growth than the UK as a whole. Consumer spending is higher since mortgages tend to be lower in terms of both debt and monthly payments. Sheffield aims to set up an airport for commuters. Employment growth has been seen in the financial services industry, and to a lesser extent in retailing, though jobs have been lost in manufacturing. Successful developments include a shopping complex between Rotherham and Sheffield called Meadowhall.

Forcing a turn to tourism
Article Abstract:
The county of Hampshire, England, is one of the country's most prosperous areas, with a well-developed commercial and industrial base. The regions' good road links to London have encouraged many in the service industries to relocate from the capital. The main commercial locations are Basingstoke, Portsmouth and Southampton. A growing industry is tourism, estimated to account for some 3% of total gross domestic product.

Redressing the balance
Article Abstract:
The property market in Harlow, UK, is changing somewhat as the town starts to lose its image of being a 'new town', and is instead becoming known as an attractive place to locate a business. Traditionally, activity has focused on industrial property, but Harlow has recently seen two major new out-of-town office deals.
